Mute Swan

As powerful as your voice is, you don’t have to explain yourself to everyone.

Words pack an abundance of information, carry promises, ideas, and share the stream of thoughts from your heart. It can mean the world to share parts of yourself with others in this form. To be vulnerable.

At times however, bringing these thoughts to the “wrong” people can end up causing more harm than good. This information can be leveraged or understood in the wrong ways, I can’t deny that. And for times when we may be struggling, it shouldn’t have to be that we’re expected to justify *why* we’re in a certain position, or why we’re unhappy. Sometimes we simply don’t know the reason for ourselves— and that’s okay.

A patient and kind presence can work wonders when it comes to a heartfelt talk; actively listening can be more than enough.

This series of paintings involved a pair of swan-inspired wolves and flowers, with short affirmations in relation to voice and quietness; Mute Swan and Black Swan.
